Okay so this morning at 8am I went round to a friend's house (after just finishing a 10pm-6am shift, yep, glutton for punishment) to detail a car she had bought for her son as he'd just joined the army and needed transport.

Car on arrival was okay but did the usual job list inspection. As it was still too early to be making any noise with a pressure washer or vacuum I set about the engine bay for an hour and a half with some Autobrite Jaffa Clean degreaser a brush and several microfibre cloths (anything that could be undone and/or removed was to get right in and then replaced) and dressed with 303 Aerospace protectant (leaves a lovely lustre).

By which time it was okay to get out the noisy stuff, so wheels cleaned and de-ironised with Bilt Hamber Autowheels and my trusty Wheel Woolies (best purchase ever) and Swissvax brush for the facings. Then onto the snow foam (Bilt Hamber Autowash) to soak while I went about the panel gaps and shuts with another brush.

Pressure rinsed off and then shampoo'd with Gtechniq Gwash. Light polish with Gtechniq P1 and a tri-foam pad (being careful not to cause any holograms, as I'd just have to polish them out again) and then sealed with Gtechniq C2v3 (both wheels and body), glass cleaned and sealed with Permanon Glass RTU. door seals treated with Einszett Gummi Pfledge Stift (I love saying that), interior vacuum to withing an inch of it's life and cleaned with Valet Pro Enzyme Odour Eater and dressed with Gtechniq C6 Trim Restorer.

Some finals as I got caught up in the fun of it all.

Then off home via KFC for some munchies and a well deserved glass of Old Speckled Hen, wait, what? oh ye', the glass is a one and half litre glass. But it's still only one glass. Lol.

Kinja'd!!!

All in all and great day out, took just over seven hours and I enjoyed it greatly. I just hope me friend's son likes it.

Licence plate covers are my 'detailing plates' as it saves me time editing out the licence plates on the computer before posting.

I could not stand the taste. Why is it best for a car guy?

I suppose it's each to their own, it'd be a boring world if we all liked the same thing.

Okay maybe not the best but it's got automotive history. It was brewed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of MG motor cars and was named after one of the factory run abouts 'the owld speckled un', hence 'old speckled hen'.

Haha that's cool. I normally prefer beer that you can't see through.

I'm partial to a Guinness or two (did 22 pints one nights, was more full than drunk, it was St. Patrick's Day. He maybe the patron saint ot Ireland but he was born thirty miles from where I live here in Northern England).

I used to be able to get this around here but now I can't find it. My favorite brew of all time.

Never heard of it. In relation to Guinness how would you describe it?

Its not as creamy and thick as Guinness. It has a nutty coffee flavor to it. It is also 8% which is nuts for a stout.

Sounds interesting, I'll have to try it if I can.
